Founded in 1969, ISACA sponsors international conferences, publishes the Information Systems Control Journal®, and develops international information systems auditing and control standards. It also administers the globally respected Certified Information Systems Auditor™ (CISA®) designation, earned by more than 60,000 professionals since 1978; the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®) designation, earned by more than 9,000 professionals since 2002; and the new Certified in the Governance of Enterprise ITTM (CGEITTM) designation.
The associated not-for-profit Foundation is committed to expanding the knowledge base of the profession through a commitment to research.
The Association's purpose is:
- to promote the education of, and help expand the knowledge and skills of, its members in the inter-related fields of Auditing and Information Systems audit and control;
- to encourage a free exchange of Information Systems audit and control techniques, approaches and problem solving by its members;
- to provide adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in Information Systems audit and control which can be beneficial to them and to their employers; and
- to communicate the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the effective organisation and utilisation of data processing resources.
