The CISA program is designed to assess and certify individuals in
the IS audit, control and security profession who demonstrate
exceptional skill and judgement. The program is a globally accepted
standard of achievement sponsored by the Information Systems Audit
and Control Association.
To earn the CISA designation, candidates are required to:
- Successfully complete the CISA examination (normally held in
June each year);
- Adhere to the Information Systems Audit and Control
Foundation's Code of Professional Ethics; and
- Submit evidence of a minimum of 5 years of professional
information systems auditing, control or security work experience.
Substitution and waivers of such experience may be
obtained as follows:
- A maximum of 1 year information systems experience OR 1 year
of financial operational auditing experience can be substituted
for 1 year of Information Systems auditing, control or security
experience;
- 60 to 120 completed college semester credit hours (the
equivalent of an Associate or Bachelor degree) can be substituted
for 1 or 2 years, respectively, of Information Systems auditing,
control, or security experience, and
- 2 years as a full time university instructor in a related
field (eg computer science, accounting, information systems
auditing) can be substituted for 1 year of Information Systems
auditing, control, or security experience.
Experience must have been gained within the 10-year period
preceding the application for certification or within 5 years from
the date of initially passing the examination. Application for
certification must be submitted within 5 years from the passing date
of the CISA examination. All experience will be verified
independently with employers.
The Chapter supports all members who undertake the CISA exam. The
Chapter library has copies of the CISA Study Manuals and these can
be borrowed. The Chapter CISA co-ordinator can also provide
assistance.
