The next CISA Examination will be held on 12 December 2009.  The final deadline for registering for this year’s exam is 23 September 2009. Salam Saffarini will be organising preparation sessions. He will also assist candidates to form study groups. Please contact Salam Saffarini if you would like assistance with your preparation.

The CISA program is designed to assess and certify individuals in the IS audit, control and security profession who demonstrate exceptional skill and judgement. The program is a globally accepted standard of achievement sponsored by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

To earn the CISA designation, candidates are required to:

  • successfully complete the CISA examination (normally held in June each year);
  • adhere to the Information Systems Audit and Control Foundation's Code of Professional Ethics; and
  • submit evidence of a minimum of 5 years of professional information systems auditing, control or security work experience.

Substitution and waivers of such experience may be obtained as follows:

  • A maximum of one year information systems experience OR one year of financial operational auditing experience can be substituted for one year of Information Systems auditing, control or security experience;
  • 60 to 120 completed college semester credit hours (the equivalent of an Associate or Bachelor degree) can be substituted for one or two years, respectively, of Information Systems auditing, control, or security experience, and
  • two years as a full time university instructor in a related field (eg computer science, accounting, information systems auditing) can be substituted for one year of Information Systems auditing, control, or security experience.

Experience must have been gained within the 10-year period preceding the application for certification or within five years from the date of initially passing the examination.

Application for certification must be submitted within five years from the passing date of the CISA examination. All experience will be verified independently with employers.

The Chapter supports all members who undertake the CISA exam. The Chapter library has copies of the CISA Study Manuals and these can be borrowed. The Chapter CISA co-ordinator can also provide assistance.
