Sir Peter Gershon (UK)
Former Chief Executive of the UK Treasury’s Office of Government
Commerce
Sir Peter Gershon has undertaken several major strategic reviews
for the UK Government on procurement including ICT and public
sector efficiency. As a result of the reviews conducted by Gershon,
the UK Government achieved an estimated £23 billion in budget
savings.
On the October 16th 2008 the Australian Government
released a report on his independent review of the Australian
Government's use of information and communication technology
(ICT).
Sir Peter will be delivering his presentation via a live satellite
feed.

Alistair McGibbon
Former Trust & Safety Director of eBay, Australia & New Zealand Founder of the Internet Safety Institute and Managing Partner of the Surete Group.
Often referred to as Australia’s former 'top cyber cop', Alastair MacGibbon is an internationally-respected authority on high-tech crime including Internet fraud, consumer victimisation and a range of Internet security issues.
Now Managing Partner of Surete Group and founder of the Internet Safety Institute, he advises companies on online trust, and provides thought leadership on internet safety issues. For over four years prior to that, Alastair headed Trust & Safety at eBay Australia and later eBay Asia Pacific. Previously Alastair was the founding Director of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre (AHTCC) - a law enforcement unit hosted by the Australian Federal Police to coordinate Australia’s efforts to combating serious crime involving technology.
As a Federal Agent with the Australian Federal Police for 15 years he served in numerous roles in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne before becoming the AFP Overseas Liaison Officer at the Australian Embassy in Washington DC for three years. Alastair is a graduate of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy and has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of International Studies from the University of Sydney.

Marcus Sachs (US)
Executive Director of Government Affairs for National Security

Director of the SANS Incident Storm Centre
Marcus Sachs works closely with external government and business
stakeholders in task forces, working groups, committees, and trade
associations as part of the National Security/Emergency
Preparedness (NS/EP) community in Washington.
Marcus Sachs' professional experience includes a 20 year
military career in the United States Army, two years of federal
civilian service at the White House and the Department of Homeland
Security, and over four years as a consultant and contractor to the
federal government. He has appeared on several domestic and foreign
television and radio networks as a computer security expert, and is
frequently quoted by the on-line and printed media. Mr. Sachs
volunteers as the Director of the
SANS Internet Storm Center and as the Corporate Evangelist of
the Zeroday Emergency Response
Team, serves on the technical advisory council of Secure Elements, the
technical advisory board of SAGE Inc., the board of advisors of
BrightCloud, Inc. and is
a member of the DShield, Inc.
board of directors.

Bruce Turner
Chief Internal Auditor, Australian Taxation Office
Bruce Turner has had a long and distinguished in internal audit
including serving as Chief Internal Auditor for a number of private
and government organisations. Bruce is currently CIA for the ATO
which has one of the most complex IT environments in Australia. The
ATO are also in process of delivering a major change program to
their IT systems.

Professor Dr Wim Van Grembergen (Belgium)
Information Systems Management, University of Antwerp (UA), University of Antwerp Management School (UAMS), IT Alignment and Governance Research Institute (ITAG)
Wim Van Grembergen is professor at the Economics and Management Faculty of the University of Antwerp (UA), immediate past-chair of the MIS department (UA), and executive professor at the University of Antwerp Management School (UAMS). He teaches information systems at bachelor, master and executive level, and researches in IT Governance issues. His most recent book 'Enterprise governance of IT: achieving strategic alignment and value' (Springer, NY) focuses on the relationship between IT governance practices and business value. Wim is engaged in the continuous development of COBIT and VAL IT and is member of the IT Governance Committee of ISACA.

Tony Hayes
Deputy Chief Executive, Queensland Public Service Commission
Tony Hayes has extensive experience across the Queensland public sector over many years in a variety of Senior Executive positions in line and central agencies. He has worked on various whole of government projects, change management initiatives, taskforces and in line management positions in most departments in the Queensland Government. In recent times Tony has worked in Queensland Health, the former Service Delivery and Performance Commission and now the Public Service Commission.
Tony has specialist experience and skills in strategic management and planning, organisational review and business process improvement, information and business strategy development, change management and project management.
For 11 years Tony has also held a number of senior appointments with the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia as a member and national Chair of the Information Management and Technology Centre of Excellence. In 2003, he was appointed to the Board of the Information Technology Governance Institute (ITGI) in the USA. Tony is currently the Chair of the IT Governance Committee, a member of the Strategy Advisory Group and a member of the Board of Directors and Trustee for the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
Tony is also an Adjunct Professor and a member of the Business Information Systems Advisory Committee for the School of Business at the University of Queensland.

Alec Dorling (Sweden)
International project leader of the SPICE (Software Process
Improvement and Capability dEtermination) project
Alec Dorling is an internationally recognized expert in the field
of Software Quality Management, Process Assessment and Improvement.
He has held key posts at international research institutes that
include the Centre for Software Engineering in Sweden, the European
Software Institute in Spain and the National Computing Centre in
the UK. He is a chartered engineer with over 30 years experience in
the IT industry gained both in real-time and commercial systems
environments. He has been involved with most of the key UK
government's initiatives in software engineering and software
quality.

Paul Ducklin
Head of Technology, Asia Pacific SOPHOS
Paul Ducklin joined Sophos from the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (similar to Australia's CSIRO) in 1995.
He has held numerous senior technical roles in Sophos over the years, variously heading up software engineering, global technical support, and even - for a few admittedly temporary weeks of vertiginously enormous budgetary power - IT.
Paul moved to Sydney in 2001 to join Sophos Australia, which hosts one of the company's four global R&D labs. He is now Head of Technology, Asia Pacific.
In 2009, he won the inaugural AusCERT Director's Award for Individual Excellence in Information Security.
Paul is one of the world's leading security experts, and loves to share his knowledge. He is an entertaining and sought-after speaker
world-wide.

John Howarth
Managing Director of Tanner James Management Consultants
John is uniquely qualified to comment on the use of best practice methods in Australia. John used early versions of the OGC methods when he worked for the UK Civil Service and UK public sector in the 1980s, then was personally responsible for introducing both PRINCE2 and MSP to the Australian market. John is accredited as a PRINCE2 trainer, PRINCE2 consultant, MSP trainer and MSP consultant, and is accredited to deliver OGC P3M3 assessments. John has personally trained and provided services to hundreds of Federal Government public servants. |
