President's Message

Welcome to the Canberra Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

ISACA was founded as the EDP Auditors Association in 1969 (in 1994 EDPAA changed its name to Information Systems Audit and Control Association). ISACA has more than 86,000 members who live and work in more than 160 countries and who participate in more than 185 ISACA chapters.

Locally, the Canberra chapter was formed in 1985 and this year we celebrate its 25th anniversary. With more than 200 members from over 80 organisations the Chapter provides an outstanding forum for networking and professional development.

Being a member of ISACA and the Canberra Chapter provides you with unique opportunities to advance professionally. We offer a number of educational opportunities to help you expand your technical skills.

Notably, the Canberra Chapter has successfully hosted the Oceania Computer Audit Controls and Security (CACS) Conference in September 2009. This year, the Oceania CACS Conference will be hosted in Melbourne and I encourage you to register and attend by visiting the website CACS 2010. If you are considering sitting for the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) examination or the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) examination, the Chapter provides free-of-charge review sessions every six months for members.

Ernst & Young continue to be a proud sponsor and supporter of the Chapter by hosting the monthly Professional Update sessions that occur on the third Tuesday of each month. Information regarding these updates and upcoming events can be founded in the ‘News’ section at the bottom of this page. You are cordially invited to attend Chapter events and meet other members and learn more about what the Canberra Chapter can do for you.

On behalf of ISACA and the Canberra Chapter, I thank all our members for their continued support.

Salam Saffarini
President, Canberra Chapter
